Keravive Q & A

Why a scalp treatment?

Because your scalp is an extension of your face and vice versa. Your scalp is skin too.  It deserves and needs the same cleansing and exfoliating treatment that your face does.  Without proper scalp conditioning, you may experience adverse skin conditions, hair thinning, loss, or both.

Hair loss is a common problem, affecting an estimated 50 million men and 30 million women in the United States alone. While most hair loss is hereditary, it can be circumstantial as well. Stress, changes in diet and nutrition, stress, changing hormones due to childbirth or menopause, stress or shock, (read “pandemic”) can wreak havoc with your hair. Two to four months after experiencing a “shock”, hair thinning becomes apparent.

Keravive can help. It has been called both a ‘scalp reset” and a “scalp facial” by experts in the field.

But what is Keravive?

Keravive is a unique, relaxing treatment designed to cleanse, exfoliate, nourish, and hydrate the scalp to promote healthier and fuller-looking hair.  It is a three step treatment:

Step one:  Cleanse and Exfoliate

HydraFacial Vortex Technology extracts dirt, oil, and impurities from the scalp and hair follicles.

Step Two:  Hydrate and Nourish

HydraFacial Keravive Peptide Complex Solution nourishes and hydrates the scalp and hair follicles with biomimetic growth factors and skin proteins that are found to be lacking in an unhealthy scalp.

Step Three: Extend and Enhance

Daily use of the take home HydraFacial Keravive Complex Spray enhances the benefits of the in-office treatment. It is a less concentrated, less potent version of that used during the in-office procedure.

Monthly treatments for three months, along with ongoing use of the take home spray is recommended to receive maximum benefit.

Who is a candidate for HydraFacial Keravive?

Anyone. Keravive is suitable for all skin and hair types.

What are the indications for Keravive?

  • Those preparing for hair transplants or undergoing hair loss treatments.

Are there contraindications?

Only those previously diagnosed with skin cancers on the scalp. It is not recommended for pregnant or nursing mothers (as no studies have been done). There are no known interactions with topical medications. However, Keravive Take Home Spray should be applied first, then other topicals like Minoxidil. May I have this treatment with color treated or permed hair?

May I have this treatment with bonded or taped-in hair extensions?

Combination treatments can be beneficial as solutions to hair thinning or loss usually involve several approaches in combination with one another.

May I have this treatment in conjuction with PRP?

For best results, it is not recommended to have both treatments during the same visit.  Alternate between the two treatments and space them at least two weeks apart.

May I have this treatment in conjuction with a hair transplant?

This treatment is beneficial in improving scalp health.  It is best to have a series of three in the 3-6 months prior to your transplant surgery.

May I have a Keravive if I have had a hair transplant?

It is best to wait six months after the transplant. However, the take-home spray may be used 4 weeks after.
